Greening Earth 2 Project

Greening Earth 2 Project

Following the strong results of GE1 in Mseko village, the Greening Earth Foundation expanded its work to the Mgongo ward in November 2022, launching GE2 across two new communities - Kizonzo and Mgongo villages in Iramba District. This expansion brings the foundation's proven methodology of ecological restoration and sustainable resource management to a broader population in the same region.

Like GE1, the project focuses on five strategic areas: ecological restoration, improving living conditions and health, strengthening social cohesion, improving family income, and improving education. The same motivational tools - peer learning and community competition - drive adoption of sustainable practices across both villages. The project aims to combat poverty by addressing its root causes within these rural communities and continues the foundation's ambition to scale this methodology across Tanzania.

1,121 households are participating in GE2 - 623 households in Mgongo village and 498 families in Kizonzo village - making this the foundation's largest community reach to date.
